About Me

Hi there and thanks for visiting my Blog.

I'm a 38 year old guy from Auckland, New Zealand.

I'm a Banker by day (dangerous profession these days I know), family guy, part time blogger by night and wanna be runner who at the moment can only dream about getting out there on the roads and trails, sucking in the deep breaths and clocking up some miles.

After becoming hooked in 2006 I've basically had to battle shin and foot injuries ever since and at present I'm sitting on side lines again. I'm pretty determined to get over these issues and get back out there but it's fair to say 2008 was a frustrating year during which I logged a whopping 99 miles.

So far I've run one Half Marathon in 2006 and a handful of other races and I'm desperate to get back to the start line again at some stage in the future. For more about how I got hooked on running and my build up to the 2006 Auckland Half Marathon click here.

I'll be using the blog as a means to keep my motivation up to one day return to running. For now though my efforts will be going into cross training to stay fit, resting my injuries and researching treatment options.

When I'm not working, or thinking about running, I've got my beautiful wife Michelle, and two boys, Jack (7) and Sam (5), and my new baby daughter Alice at home to keep me in line.

Other sporting interests include playing golf, watching New Zealand's number one sports team, the All Blacks, and our less well known Black Caps (Cricket).

I'm not a huge book reader or listener to music, though I have read "Chi Running" by Danny Dreyer a couple of times recently and have just received for Christmas a copy of Dean Karnazes' book "50 Marathons 50 Days". I am steadily working my way through the running section at our local library though and will post more about the books I read.

Welcome to the new Blog

Thanks for stopping by my new running blog. If you're regular visitor from my previous blog (sorry the blogging hasn't been too regular of late) I hope you all had a great Christmas and all the best for a happy safe and injury free 2009. If you're new to the Blog then welcome and hopefully you like what you see.

Why the new Blog? Well the old blog was almost two years old and I had posted over 100 posts in that time about my introduction to running, how I become hooked and more latterly the injuries which seemed to stall any serious running efforts. I haven't run since October now and what tends to happen is that when I don't run , I don't blog. My hope is that by making a fresh new start to my Blog, it will motivate me to renew my running.

Over the next few days and weeks I'll start building up the Blog with some of my favourite posts from the old Blog just to give this one I little bit of history about what I've done , where I've been etc (also as I couldn't figure out how to import the old blog to this one?).

See ya round.
